“Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.” -Chinese Proverb
As a Senior Mortgage Loan Officer with more than 28 years of experience, Misty Kehaulani Griffiths has helped many local families with their mortgage financing needs. And even after so many years, her passion for real estate and lending remains as strong as ever!
Misty is a native Hawaiian, born and raised in the islands. A single mom who struggled to raise her own three children here in paradise, she knows all too well the difficulties of owning a home and working hard to achieve the American dream of homeownership!
Now as a proud “Tutu” (Grandmother) of 10 beautiful grandchildren, she is more determined than ever to keep our families here in Hawai‘i. There may be challenges, but with a positive attitude and planning, Misty believes you can achieve homeownership too!
She is honored to help anyone and everyone looking for a mortgage, whether they’re first-time home buyers, military veterans or seasoned investors.
Misty’s favorite proverb, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime,” also applies to her philosophy on mortgages.
“Any loan officer can give you a 30-year mortgage, but if you can teach them to pay off that mortgage in less than 10 years, that changes everything,” Misty says.
Since 2004, she has been conducting countless free community workshops here in Hawai‘i and across the nation, sharing her knowledge and methodology on how to pay off a 30-year mortgage in fewer than 10 years! She believes in this so strongly, she even put pen to paper as the author of a book, Right Track to Homeownership. While most people define the American dream as owning a home, Misty’s dream is to teach folks that the true American dream is to own your home mortgage-free!
Along with her profession, Misty takes great pride in giving back to the community. She has been an active volunteer with the American Red Cross, Maui Chapter since 2011. She’s a certified American Red Cross disaster instructor, works a 24-hour emergency hotline and has assisted in numerous disasters throughout the state of Hawai‘i.
Misty also loves teaching Sunday School at a small church in the quaint town of Lāhainā. Her lively nursery class students keep her on her toes! She has written and directed many musical youth, Christmas and Easter programs. In addition, Misty enjoys singing in the church choir, playing trumpet in the church band and upright bass in the orchestra!
On her bucket list? To travel around the globe! Misty says “the world is my home,” and she’s travelled to quite a few countries, but still has more to check off her list when the time is right. However, her favorite place to travel is to Disneyland with the “Grand Kids” — this brings her the most JOY!
